About

A small editorial index of hotels, written by people who would rather publish eleven entries properly than three hundred badly.

What we cover

Four collections: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. That list is fixed. When an interesting property does not fit one of the four, it stays out rather than prompting a fifth.

How entries are written

Every hotel gets its own page and a piece of prose — what the building is, where it stands, how it is organised, what a stay is shaped around. We keep to facts that hold true across seasons and owners, and avoid anything that would need a price list or a press release to stand up.

Casino properties are described as hotels first. The gaming floor is one feature among several, and it is written about that way.

What we are not

We do not take bookings, sell rooms, publish star ratings or run guest reviews. Nothing here is sponsored or paid for. The index is geo-neutral: it is not written from, or for, any one country.

Corrections

Buildings change and sections close. If something here has gone out of date, write to us and we will fix the page rather than quietly leave it.
