Six Senses Zighy Bay

Musandam Peninsula, Oman

A village of stone villas behind a mountain ridge, reached by a steep road, by boat, or by paraglide.

Zighy Bay sits behind a mountain ridge on Oman's Musandam Peninsula. Arriving means a steep mountain road, a boat, or — for guests who want it — a paraglide down to the beach. The approach is part of the property's character rather than an obstacle to it.

Villas are built from local stone and timber in the form of an Omani village, with private pools and walled courtyards. Nothing rises far above ground level, so the ridge stays the tallest thing in view.

There is a working organic garden, an open-air cinema set against the rock face, and a long stretch of beach. The craft emphasis here is architectural: the building style is the exhibit.
